Descriptive Memory and Justification
The pandemic left much of the population in a state of emotional exhaustion and psychological distress.
From this factor, a work focused on a sculptural installation under photographed performance is presented. Alluding to the different states of mind during the pandemic.
The words we use sometimes also condition the way we think and feel something, sometimes leading us to face adversity with a less positive connotation that leads to a conflict with all the emotional burden already present.
To this emotional burden is added the uncertainty of the post-pandemic future.
This work entitled "Knowing that it hurts us in secret", is composed of a structure composed of two wooden boards suspended, in which these contain a series of photographs that narrate a performance performed in a natural place with sandy formations, being present the object used during the performance.
Through this work we intend to allude to the psychological condition that we all suffer a little caused by the cloister and social exclusion that has affected and continues to affect the majority of the world population, which is the emotional burden also due to economic, financial, family, social or health crises, which each carries due to the situation resulting from the current pandemic.
For the execution of this sculptural installation, a performative act was performed composed of two individuals, both wearing a mask that covers the nose and mouth, because this is the symbol of another turbulent period of humanity, in which what only matters is the protection of the airways, walking within sandy, irregular formations that are part of the installation symbolizing sometimes the uncertainties of the post-pandemic future or the oscillations of measures and routines implemented without apparent stability. Through its movements and the loading of a constructed object, in which it will be added to the subject through a rope that joins him by a loop, this emotional charge is translated into this irregular spherical form being something always present.
Composed of a structure consisting of steel wire and layers of dark colored fabric. The choice of these materials is due to an accumulation of dense emotional loads, transferring this idea to a skein of different dark tissues, marking several emotional states and accumulating them.
Technical Processes
The sculptural installation consists of two wooden boards and the object that was used during the performance symbolizing the emotional load.
The plates are face to face and suspended with 3mm steel cables at a distance from the floor of 130cm, with a total dimension of 150 x 300 x 130 cm. On each of these plates will be presented the performance through a photographic record of 20 color photographs printed on photo paper, each plate contains 10 photographs of this series, these being on opposite sides of each plate.
The object used in the performance will also be suspended with steel cables of 3mm at the same height of the plates containing the photographic record, or being 150 cm from the floor, where it will be placed between the two parallel structures.
For the assembly of this sculptural installation will be necessary the support of the Organization, in order to be able to sustain the steel cables on the ceiling. It will also require three foci of light, two of which will be located higher up and with reasonable angles, focusing on both plates containing the photographic record, the third focus would be focused on the object used in the performance so that the shadow of the same is projected on the floor.
