Expulsion is the result of a plastic research on the meeting of several materials, here : concrete and iron. The barbed wire pattern represents a symbolic obsession that I exaggerated by enlarging it in space and zooming in on a detail of the knot. It is a motif present in penitentiary spaces, but also everyday, it refers to a form of compression, confinement, but also sort of protection. These lines that cross and intersect, these tight knots and these almost exhausted points. I wanted to paralyze this moving form and at the same time frozen in a very heavy, solid and resistant element. It took me a lot of time to do it and several tests to find the right balance. Expulsion is a sculpture that I particularly like and that marks the beginning, I hope, of a series of other sculptures that will challenge the laws of gravity with new materials.
