Constructed from dream-state imagery and transposed through readymade materials, this sculptural work reimagines the keyboard not as instrument but as index—a relic of recursive searching and syntactic fragmentation. Informed by Carl Jung’s assertion that dreams are physiological facts of nature, the work distils the compulsive semiotics of digital communication into an object of contemplation, where function dissolves into form. Kyle Yip repositions this apparatus as a mnemonic device: a fragment of the technological unconscious that encodes both anxiety and aspiration. The configuration of keys—WASD@?—evokes both disorientation and directionality, gesturing toward the coded choreography of the virtual self. As with all works in the AWAKENING series, the piece exists as a liminal structure—part artifact, part invocation—inviting the viewer to reckon with the psychological sediment of interface culture and the occluded syntax of the dream-world.
