Cluster is a series of ceramic sculptures, in development, that respond to the phenomenon of
stacking in the lifecycle of sequential hermaphrodites like Crepidula fornicata (slipper limpets).
Inspired by the role of touch in both the transition between male and female in this invasive species
(slipper lippets are not native to UK waters) and the evolution of form in Strachan's ceramics, these
tactile creations capture the unsettling feeling of encountering something known yet subtly
unfamiliar. Her work embodies this state of in-betweenness, evoking the polymorphic and protean
nature of environmental change.
