An originally tailored straitjacket, in actual real-life size, was designed with materials fashioned from fiscal bills which were connected and sewn together.
The fiscal bills are from several weeks of everyday consumer activities, such as going to the store, bars, the hairdresser, utility bills, parking, lotto…
This work of art was part of the multimedia project entitled “Charge My Straitjacket” and represents in fashion form an individual’s psychological state of mind and fiscal bills, as building materials representing the potential cause of that state.
The concept of “Charge My Straitjacket”, with its specific connections of recognizable symbols attempts to bring to the forefront of consciousness that, which through everyday adaptation to daily life, we have subconsciously grown to accept as normal.
The author’s considerable experience in the areas of fashion and graphic design has culminated in this work of art, which pits against each other deep inner questions of being and the external circumstances of an imposed way of life in the consumer age, being represented in the form of an article of clothing – at the intersection of these two domains.
