This group of people, including my grandfather, moved from the countryside to the city with the wave of urbanization. However, they lacked a sense of belonging to the town and carried a longing for the countryside, feeling caught between the city and the rural life. This left them as marginalized individuals. It wasn't until I grew up and left home that I began to understand their homesickness and the deep connection to their homeland. I hope to highlight the inner feelings of these people, who often remain inexpressive and overlooked amidst the tides of change.
I built an installation outdoors. The soil is filtered and falls to the ground, blown away by a fan, and then pushed back by the sweeper. The soil symbolizes the peasants who are forced to leave their homeland but are rejected by the modern city and live in the cracks.
