In this striking installation, the human body merges with fragile coral forms – a silent lament for the progressive death of the oceans. The white figure, covered in pale coral, lies in a peaceful pose, but its tranquility is deceptive: it embodies the collective death of entire reefs, which is occurring inexorably beneath the surface.
"Coral Silence" addresses so-called coral bleaching – the global coral bleaching caused by rising sea temperatures and environmental pollution. The once colorful underwater landscapes are fading, losing their vitality, and with them, an entire cosmos of biodiversity is disappearing.
The work invites us to pause and reflect on the beauty and fragility of marine life. It is a visual elegy – but also a plea: There is still time to preserve the reef and with it one of the most sensitive habitats on our planet.
