Where Light Lives in Water 2025
‘SIGH OF THE MOON’
A view of picturesque worlds of colour, light and shadow
A recurring theme in my work is water – its surface as an ever-changing canvas of light, movement and reflection. I call this series ‘Where Light Lives in Water.’ I use my photographs of water surfaces as a template, which I edit digitally and then print in multiple layers onto brushed metal plates using dissolved pigments. I then edit the work with pigments, ink and paint until it reaches its final completion.
A sigh that surrenders to silence – not real. The mirror resembles a room; it lingers between light and memory, in reflection and dream.
The silhouette of a tree and the moon, visible in the water – as if in a floating intermediate world, unattainable, with deep longing.
In this work, nostalgia does not mean standing still, but remaining in motion, like water, as a protagonist. It allows one to linger without holding on.
It allows one to sink into distant memories without waiting for an answer.
