This image has no conscious meaning. Diego does not intend to rationalise its meaning by pretending he knows what his subconscious was going through at the time of creation. Its title in contrast has a profound meaning: It is a harsh reminder of the senseless horror and suffering of war.
This work is part of the "Senseless" series: A collection of abstract photographs created by manipulating pure white light dispersed through a prism and projected onto textured screens.
This unique and highly experimental creative process allows the artist to exert control over the light at several different stages, while simultaneously retaining an inevitable component of capriciousness from the countless light beams.
The artist found that through this painting method he was able to capture light and colour in their essential purity and intensity, circumventing interference from traditional pigments and painting tools.
