Ser Manguezal is an ongoing photography project inspired by Josué de Castro’s 1967 book Of Men and Crabs. In it, Castro imagines men learning to walk like crabs in the mangroves—a metaphor that guided my visual exploration. Shot with a digital camera, the series documents people who depend on the mangrove ecosystem to survive, highlighting their deep connection with the landscape. The project aims to honor the labor of crab catchers and raise awareness about the ecological importance of mangroves.
