Regardless of the angle from which it is approached, dealing with ecology through landscape is always ultimately a matter of an approach that cannot completely dispense with a form of anthropocentrism, since by definition landscape, like photography, is a construction. For Alain Roger, landscape is as much about “artialisation” in situ, in other words an human intervention in ecosystems, as it is about “artialisation” in visu through the education of the eye and the attribution of an aesthetic value to the latter. In order to reverse this relationship in my creative work, I set out not to photograph rivers but to allow them to permeate my medium with minerals and vegetals.
As part of my doctoral research, I continued the work begun with my first series of hudorographs within various rivers and waterflows in the Pyrenees. This new series involves adding the name of the waterflow as co-author, marking a real collaboration and questioning the recognition of the legal personality of these rivers.
