Colours of Corrosion
The
Ruhr area, formerly an important industrial area in West Germany, has
been in a process of transformation for a long time.
Former
facilities of mining and steel industry were either disposed of or
preserved as cultural monuments and now used for recreational
purposes.
Since
these systems have long been exposed to weathering and oxidation
processes, changes in shape and colour in a wide variety of materials
were initiated or even intensified.
As
a photographer , my aim is not just to document the changing
processes in detail, but to bring these colour and design
compositions to effect photo-painterly, simply by taking the picture,
without making major changes through image processing.
I
consciously see the boundaries between photography and painting as
being fluid here.
