One veil,
two veils,
three veils,
then four, five, and six,
I lay them gently on the image of her.
She grows ever more hazy,
transforming into an impressionist dream.
I see the shadows, yes,
but the details slip beyond my gaze.
And I weep over those veils,
for they shroud a love now faded,
the most beautiful love I lived,
yet I stood with the ones who lost.
So I place yet another veil,
hoping to forget you once more.
But the shadows linger still,
and the tears continue to fall.
