Movie Nights

For years, I have been taking photographs of my grandmother as part of an exhibition I am preparing about her. I took this photograph in 2023, and it portrays her fondness for watching films sitting very close to the screen on summer nights. At the same time, the image offers a peaceful yet slightly unsettling reflection on the passage of time and on the forms of entertainment that keep us in these seemingly calm, but also somewhat decadent, states. We will all reach that stage one day, yet my grandmother has learned to live through her routines, leading the life she wishes despite everything, as she approaches her hundredth birthday.
