CONCEPT OF: Il MA della Luna - The MA of the Moon - Part of the series In the MA – On the Threshold of the Visible
In the silence between things,
the moon breathes out.
It shimmers with light.
It dances in the void,
a vital energy,
wherever its gaze falls,
it sanctifies the invisible.
CONCEPT of the entire “In the MA – On the Threshold of the Visible” series:
Experimentation and exploration of the sensitivity of Japanese aesthetics: the ‘MA’
‘MA’ is an elusive concept that speaks directly to the soul — a concept I have carried with me for a long time, and which manifests itself in my art.
“In the MA – On the Threshold of the Visible” is a fine art photography series that comes to life in 2025 and remains open to new experimentation.
For the Japanese people, ‘MA’ is a concept that could be translated as space / void / interval / between / in the midst of.
For me, it is that metaphysical place where everything is generated, that ‘nothing’ which is also ‘everything,’ because from it all things originate and take form—whether spirit or matter.
‘MA’ is an elusive concept that speaks directly to the soul, one I have carried with me for a long time and that reveals itself in my artistic practice. This series is both a deepening and, above all, a very personal exploration of it.
Between form and emptiness, between light and shadow, there exists a sacred space.
The Japanese call it ‘MA.’ Not absence, but a subtle presence.
It is the breath between two heartbeats.
The silence that makes sound audible.
The space that allows movement to exist.
This series was born from the desire to listen to the invisible—
to capture, through images, what dwells between things:
the breath, the memory, the invisible presence that inhabits Nature.
The Ginkgo Biloba, an ancient being, becomes guide and symbol.
Rooted in the Earth, dancing in the wind, it reminds us that everything lives in balance—
between what is and what has been, between the visible and the invisible, between form and essence.
Through photography, I attempt to capture the instant in which time stands still.
A fragment of eternity, suspended between one breath and the next.
An invitation to contemplation.
An invitation to dwell within the ‘MA’
