Much is still unknown about the three graces of ancient mythology.
Different origins and names are given for them, and even their number is not always the same
– in some parts of Greece only two of them are known. But they were famous everywhere
for their charm and were thus often shown dancing.
However, it has never been conveyed that they also drew or painted.
That today is the task of „the 4 Graces“, whose origin and names we know: they are
Mela Diamant, Susanna Schwarz, and G. Maria Wetter, and they are graduates of the
Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, where they studied, amongst others, under Gunter Damisch,
Josef Schulz, and Herwig Zens.
Fur care is about taking care of each other- loving others - stay in shape as a female artist, woman, wife, mother, lover.
In the year 2002, they founded the artistic group „The 4 Graces“.
Since then they have been working in a communal studio and have nevertheless remained inseparable friends.
Each one of the four cultivates her distinctive style in her paintings;
only in their videos do they perform – just like their antique ideals – together in joint choreography.
Objectiveness is the connecting feature of their pictures, the pictorial form one moment
determined by clear spaces and linear boundaries, and then again open with colors flowing into one another
and single blotches. The topics are very current and influenced by modern life;
relationships to people and animals - past, wished for or dreamed about – are implied;
our living spaces, houses, and apartments are illustrated; desires, like those evoked by commercials or films,
are ironically paraphrased. EIts abyss and terror are not visible, but are foreshadowed in the background.
In the foreground, melancholic gaiety prevails.
