On our first wedding anniversary, my husband and I spent a weekend in a tiny house high in the mountains. Each evening, we sat beside a campfire and I found myself photographing the flames repeatedly, captivated by their constant movement and changing forms.
Later, I struggled to choose a single image that captured the warmth and joy of those moments. Instead, I created a composite photograph by layering twenty of my favourite images into one. The resulting work reflects the way memory accumulates rather than exists as a single frozen instant, bringing together multiple moments into a single frame.
This photograph is part of my ongoing series Traces of Me, which explores memory, place, and lived experience through layered photographic composites.
