“Icaro sono io” (I am Icarus) is an autobiographical project, created with a strong post-production influence on the photographic image, which recounts
depression, and suicide, inspired by the theme of Icarus from Greek mythology. Data tells us that depression affects around 280 million people worldwide.
Every year, around 800,000 people die by suicide, a rate that is increasing, especially among adolescents, and over 90% of suicides are associated with mental disorders such as depression.
My intention is to visually express such a complex state of what I have experienced firsthand. In the final act of the exhibition, reciting the poem (description of all the photos). Talking about it, expressing oneself, spreading the awareness that one is not alone in feeling certain emotions and experiencing certain moments can help others. Icarus is not just me, it could be all of us.
