This photo was taken as part of a series of portraits during the filming of a collaborative documentary in Inukjuak, Nunavik (CA), an Inuit village located on Inuit reserved land. The documentary explores a dialogue between members of the community about secrets, the past and the future. The series is called 'The people are pristine, it's the place that is haunted' because of the beaten and electric energy of Inukjuak, and because of the amazing spirit of community that can only be found, nowadays, in true small towns. And it is so precious.
I met Annie, Oleepeeka and Elisapi while filming at the Innalik school during recess. Girls up north aren't afraid of anything, and they're just so cool and bold. Here, they're posing on an ATV in the school parking lot.
