Occupation, construction, demolition, and reconstruction, driven by "development," mark the landscape with "human will." This project showcases photomontages, virtual images, and documentary photography of construction sites in China, each encircled by walls displaying texts and drawings that express collective dreams rather than construction purposes. The photomontage series merges these texts and drawings into a flat image, topped with a construction photo to visualize ongoing accomplishment. Text translations are shaped to mimic the wall texts and drawings. Virtual images simulate the reality of these sites, and a black and white photo captures a new generation facing an uncertain future. These sites embody becoming and uncertainty, with collective dreams haunting the spaces. When locals encounter these displays, it creates a moment suspended between nostalgia and future imaginings, where individual perceptions and life situations converge, solidifying abstract dreams through translated and displayed texts. Text becomes image; image becomes text, questioning our future path regarding the realities that we are facing in the Anthropocene era.
