The Impromptu Performance Using GIF Scores is a work aimed at a new form of
improvisation.
The performance is performed by two people: the performer and the image selector.
The selector selects images from GIF video sharing services on the Internet, and the
performer performs an improvised performance to the selected images.
After receiving the played sound, the selector further selects the next image.
This performance consists of 3 parts.
Part1:
A short clip selected from a GIF video service on the Internet is displayed by the
selector.The performer improvises on the clip and the audio is recorded and played
on a loop along with the GIF video.The selector takes the performance and decides
what length and type of GIF image to present next.This process is repeated to create
the track.
Part2:
The created tracks are played one after another in random order.Harmonious and
incongruous portions of each track sequence will occur.
Part3:
Selectors combine the collected tracks.The combined tracks are used as a backing
track for further improvisation by the performer.
