YU SIQI "Liberation"Mountain 2024 Performance Art
Works
This was my
first "meditation" experience. My photographer and I shot
"Liberation" on a mountain in Greece. It was very hot that day and my
body temperature reached 30 degrees. I chose a flat place. , laying my work on
the ground with gravel, and laying red wool and blue wool nearby, which also
represent the performance art work "Blue" and "Red". I sit
delicately on my artwork, trying to establish a deep connection with my
surroundings. I close my eyes slowly, soaking in the atmosphere around me. It
is a moment of calm and reflection, an opportunity to forget the worries and
distractions of the outside world. When my eyes close, instead of being
surrounded by darkness, I find myself immersed in a reddish atmosphere. It's as
if the sun, blazing and relentless, is projecting its heat directly onto me.
This colour, intense and vibrant, envelops me, transporting me into a state of
awareness and contemplation. As I sit in silence, I begin to perceive the
sounds of nature around me. The wind whispers gently through the leaves of the
trees, while cicadas sing their summer song nearby. I can also smell the earthy
smell of wood and the sweet, delicate scent of flowers filling the air around
me.
