'dream slash nightmare' is my structured improvised and composed work for my voice commissioned by MONA (Museum for Old and New Art) and performed at the Princess Wharf in Hobart, with supporting musicians Lennie Marks (guitar) and Daniel Grinvalds (live sound sampling and processing) , with this version being recorded by the ABC.
In this work my unique vocal techniques and range of 3 octaves are in full flight. I also work with my unique repertoire microtonal and extended vocal techniques, developed since early childhood. Many resemble birdsong.
In my work I work from the principle of "the body as the score" drawing from deeply embodied feelings and memories in transformational spontaneous catharsis and expression, giving shape to them with authentic expression and musical intelligence and experience.
The work changes with each performance.
