In 2021 the pandemic’s surge blurred daily life into data and dread. I introduced paper cranes—universally read as carriers of goodwill—hoping the wish “may all be safe” could soar above a sky saturated in viral blue. A braid‑haired girl, masked in surgical green, reaches toward cranes tinted in warm pinks and soft greens. Dense intaglio lines intertwined with gritty relief textures register the heartbeat of my own oscillation between anxiety and resolve.
