Tasting watermelon, a private experience that reaches the inside of the body eventually extends beyond it, and I have painted that expansion.
The background color is painted so that it can be seen as sky or as earth alike. By placing the watermelon there like light slipping through a rift, I express the connection between myself, the watermelon, and the world.
The vertical lines are the fold-lines of origami, conveying how the singularity within a being acquires its own traces as it is folded and unfolded.
Personal experiences, particularities, and the thoughts that accumulate become differences, and make a being singular.
When I meet myself through singularity and understand myself within the world, singularity may become a circuit, a movement back and forth toward understanding. It is with this thought that I present this work.
