W. G., Habitus Cubique - Landscape 73 29 18 from the White Gold,… series of the Réfléchissons-y… project.
Réfléchissons-y… ( Let’s think about it…)
In a world where the Earth can become sterile, the need to envision new processes for the restoration of life is crucial.
The artworks White Gold, Habitus Cubique evoke this process of restoration.
This repair process is presented through the creation of Pyrites aggregates onto which microorganisms similar to lichens are grafted which scattered across devastated landscape can allow life to thrive again.
This work is composed of recycled paper pulp, Kozo fibers, and pins.
The recycled paper pulp represents the cubic systems which serve as supports for reproduction, the Kozo fiber symbolizes life and the pins embody human action.
The use of paper material allows me to work on the perception of the density of the work but also to create metaphors around the regenerative power of life. The assemblies with cubic systems constituting the Pyrites appear to be made of concrete, suggesting to the observer a dense and inert material. The Kozo fiber in the form of clusters of microorganisms resembling lichens evokes the hope of a rebirth of the living World.
