Once everything was destroyed, nobody wanted to admit to having seen anything.
The sight of the destruction was too overwhelming, and people were afraid of getting involved or being accused of any wrongdoing.
They pretended to be oblivious, and some even denied that anything had happened at all.
The silence was eerie, and it left a feeling of mistrust and helplessness among the community. Slowly but surely, however, the truth began to surface, and the consequences of the destruction could no longer be ignored.
