Series 3 of the “Semiotician’s Sketch Books,” titled “troubled mind”(Worries), represents the ultimate cause and effect in the world of semiotics. “This Human World,” shows that it is such “nominal” signs and figures as money, time, speed, priorities, comparisons and rankings that most trouble people. However, these “nominal” signs exist in certain time and space only. If we cannot escape from the framework of social norms that suppress our spiritual liberty and freedom, then “when their minds draw near to death, nothing can restore them to the light.”(ZhuangZi) In such a world it is unlikely for people to be untroubled.
