The Quiet Reef
An ode to submerged stillness and fragile abundance
"Amid coral hues, a turtle moves through the reef,
passing through seagrass, it finds its place.
In ocean depths where soft currents drift,
it follows pathways the waters trace.
A quiet dance where silence grows."
The Quiet Reef examines the ocean as a living system defined by movement, colour and continuity. Rather than presenting the reef as a dramatic spectacle, this painting focuses on its softer visual rhythms - coral tones, flowing reef structures and the suspended motion of water.
At the centre, a turtle glides through this environment with ease, not as a narrative but part of an interconnected field. Its movement is shaped by the surrounding currents and forms, reflecting a natural alignment.
My work looks at the harmony of light, colour, motion and how they interact in this integrated under water world.
This painting is part of a diptych.
