The Welcome Rose

The Welcome Rose was inspired by many years of my father gardening in retirement, everything he planted was for my mother, and always especially the roses. Their home was always welcoming and open, and their humour and togetherness made every visitor feel relaxed and happy. 

Pink roses have an air of romance and tenderness, fond thoughts of a lover or someone dear spring to mind, and the colour goes directly to your heart. In this painting, the deep green of leaves and the dripping dew drops on which the roses grow, take us into a loved garden and the healthy air after rain has fallen and the shadows of night departed!
