The three wise artists

This graphic work subverts the ancient oriental mystical maxim of the three wise monkeys to investigate the psychological fractures, self-censorship, and emotional isolation of the contemporary creator. Built upon a raw, intimate graphic language using rapid cross-hatching and deliberate pencil work, the composition sequences a single identity into three distinct states of internal crisis. While the flanking figures cover their eyes and mouth—symbolizing the internal struggle with artistic perception, expression, and the pressure to remain silent—the central gaze remains entirely exposed, confronting the viewer with unsettling severity. By replacing the traditional figures with the face of the creator, the artwork serves as a visual diary on human communication, vulnerability, and the heavy burden of the artistic gaze in a fragmented world.
