It is painted after
a magical encounter with a fox, a dream come true. We tamed each
other, he used to come to see me often until the hunting season, after which I
never saw him again. The fox immediately reminds me of authenticity,
friendship, and my childhood through the "Little Prince"; A work that
marked me a lot.
« What must I do, to tame you?" asked the little prince. "You
must be very patient," replied the fox. "First you will sit down at a little distance from me, like that, in
the grass. I shall look at you out of the
corner of my eye, and you will say nothing. Words are the source of misunderstandings. But you will sit a little closer
to me, every day... If you tame me, then
we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the
world. To you, I
shall be unique in all the world. » The little Prince of St. Exupéry.
The fox has
a contemplative gaze towards a more simplified image of his own.
As if he looks at his image in the imaginary world
of childhood through tales and stories, and wonders about his image, place and sustainability in the real world.
Or even as if he recognizes his reflection in the
human in front of him, his thirst for freedom, for authenticity, to
belong to nature and to safeguard it.
This painting pays homage to
the Fox, this fascinating creature, discreet, free, intelligent, with
awakened senses, resistant, with magical appearances… this wild animal that
lives near us, in the fields, on the outskirts cities because of the
destruction of its natural environment, poorly judged, hunted and killed, however
it is very important for the ecosystem and has the right to live and freely.
