This work follows a dream about our life in the world and the life and existence of Jesus Christ as it was his last days. I always wondered about the truth of the story about Christ, the apostles, the guards, and the last 24 hours. So I spent 15 days doing an in-depth study on the subject. I saw a film about Jesus Christ, I saw several videos with historians of antiquity, I read about the scientific discoveries, what has been proven, what remains to be proven, what remains to be discovered. What was the route in the last 24 hours until the crucifixion, which resulted in his judgment, the practices at the time, the Jews at that time, the atheists, Romans, and other people. I needed to have a clear view of everything. I read testimonies from apostles, Roman guards, Jews, atheists, etc. I was surprised that more scientific discoveries and certainties have been made than I imagined. I became aware of the old and the new testaments and who takes care of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, etc. That way I worked on these ideas and the dream on the themes. I decided that it would only be complete if I made a series of paintings (3 to 4 canvases/works) in oil from these last days. This work represents the day after the crucifixion, the heavy wooden cross, the nails are still there, the man on his back represents our conscience in an attempt to ask ourselves why Jesus Christ was crucified and why it is so painful. The standard with legionnaires (flag) and the shield on the right side. We have an olive tree that also symbolizes the time and the area as in the Mount of Olives where he ended up being detained. As for the painting itself, it took a long time due to its technique. The painting is done layer by layer. Being from the thinnest to the thickest but I always do it alternately with the glazing of several layers. In addition to the painting itself, the canvas took 4 times glazing with pigment and the wooden cross took 18 layers of glazing / veladura with more pigment for less pigment to create depth and reflection given its own nature of creating soul and personality to this work. In total, this work between layers of paints and glazing has more than 23 layers on the cross and more than 8 layers on the remaining canvas. At least take about 48 hours between each layer. Even so, I always try that the canvas, when ready, almost doesn't show brushstrokes. I try to make it less noticeable. I consider this work quite good at the historical and artistic level. The colors in the photographs are almost the same as the picture. Thanks.
