A reinterpretation of the concept of the Annunciation. In this case, two demonic cherubs, acting in place of a blasphemous Archangel Gabriel, raise a scepter with a star at its peak, alluding to one of Lucifer’s titles: Morning Star.
Just as Gabriel announced the coming of the Messiah, these cherubs proclaim the arrival of his opposite: the Antichrist, who in some doctrines is identified as the very son of the devil. He will be a false prophet who will ensnare the nations before the Second Coming and, according to certain interpretations, an anti-pope.
This work is the first in a triptych entirely dedicated to the figure of the Antichrist.
