Ryszard Szozda,
born 1976 in Cracow, Poland. Lives and works in Warsaw, Poland.
Graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, Poland, in 2001 at the Faculty of Graphic Arts. In 1999 - 2000 studied at the Universität Duisburg-Essen, Germany, at he Faculty of Photography.Untill 2007 he worked mostly in graphics and photography.
Since 2012 his works became focused on painting. Till now he creates series of paintings undertaking the issue of symbolic violence present in contemporary iconosphere and architecture. Author of two projects: “Sig Sauer” and “American Visa”, for renewed Galeria Otwarta in Cracow in 2000 in cooperation with Rafał Bujnowski and Wilhelm Sasnal. Co-creator and director of a documentary “Don’t pay me” about negation of the conventional priorities of having money and owning goods (dontpayme.com). Co-editor of a radio broadcast about contemporary art on Radio Głosy. Author of a series of large-format paintings for a theater performance “The call of Cthulhu” in Teatr Nowy in Warsaw, directed by Michał Borczuch in 2017. Winner of the First Prize of 13th Edition Arte Laguna Prize for the triptych “Test #03” in Venice, Italy in 2019.
