In my works I deal with beauty ideals of the western centered society. A system based on the accumulation of material goods and economic prosperity prefers young, healthy and able-bodied people. This affects physical ideals and leads to grotesque forms of self-optimization. To this end, I examine props of femininity on the basis of cosmetic products, which contain a promise of perfection. In doing so, I criticize our own urge for self-optimization and at the same time demonstrate the absurdity of consumer products. Thus, moisturizing masks are debunked in their promise of rejuvenation and instead appear as a "Memento Mori" admonishing skull. Facial tapes offer immobility instead of wrinkles, and carrots are transformed into unwieldy curlers. The motif of the female body, with which I mainly work, is thereby always also an examination of the objectification of the same in the history of Western painting. Thus, it is my concern to find ways of representing corporeality that break with the tradition of Male Gaze.
