The phenomenon of "Standing on the ruins" as a way to mourn the loss of a home and people we love.
"Standing on the ruins" is a phenomenon that emerged among the pre-Islamic poets. They introduced their poems by standing on the ruins, that is, by standing on the traces of what remained of the homes of their beloved.
After Beirut's explosion in August, there was definitely a shock and a paralyzing art block that stopped me from being able to express visually how I felt about this. In this series, I aim to practice this act of standing on the ruins as a therapeutic way to overcome this loss and to visually archive it.
