Each character is physically positioned to represent a scene where a group of people stand in front of a border. I aspire not to describe the details of the faces, wishing the crowd to become anonymous as anyone crosses the border, losing their identity in the process. Is it a family scene or individuals gathered to cross? It's up to the viewer's perception. Blue, usually associated with truth, royalty and trust, here takes on a meaning of the unknown, of darkness, hiding the mysteries of this vast blue space that arouse anxiety and remain unknown.
Only the figure next to the child seems on the verge of movement, reaching out with his hand. My intention is to convey, through various types of lines, gestures and colors, the feeling of waiting and patience, sometimes extremely distressing, experienced by every people in the world confronted with separation. This is what inspired the title of this painting: "Solitude of a scorned freedom".
These figures seem isolated and disorientated in space, searching for something peaceful beyond.
