Shimmering No.2 is a diptych, it is constituted by two identical paintings. Light is the basic theme of this work, the slightly different colour of the dots on these two paintings created an effect that looks shimmery. It also related to the relation between trauma and memory: the presence of those traumatic events in our memories are like those shimmery dots, attract our attention and lead into a series of neurotic behaviour. Trauma has its fascinating features.
Repetition is another theme of this work. Since these two paintings are identical, it described a status that one imitates the other one, one repeated the other one, one became the other one. Repetition is one of the features in neurotic behaviour that caused by trauma as well. Furthermore, as psychoanalysis suggested, repetition is not simply a stereotype, but in relation to something always missed.
