“Second Chances (A Second Life)” began as a return to a piece I created many months ago, a work that no longer sparked joy or felt connected to who I am now. Revisiting it became an unexpected confrontation with my own past. I wrestled with old decisions, outdated ideas, and versions of myself I had already moved beyond. At moments it felt like facing the ghosts of my own making, and the process was frustrating, messy, and strangely funny. Through that struggle, something shifted. By peeling back, layering over, and letting go, the work found its renewed direction. What emerged was not the original piece improved, but something entirely new, more grounded, and more honest. This work reflects the possibility of transformation, the beauty of returning to what we once abandoned, and the understanding that even what feels “failed” can evolve into something meaningful when given room to breathe again.
