The series Fabulous Creatures features mythical creatures who have gathered in the studio or at home for a portrait session. Or would have - if they were real.
They are present-day mythical creatures, normal contemporaries. Monsters next door, so to speak. And thereby come very close to their original perception.
In contrast to today, these creatures were almost real components of everyday life until the Middle Ages. The difference between fantasy, myths and real experience was not only fluid, it was simply not important.
A mythical creature is nothing more than a different form of human existence, sometimes unsettling, sometimes frightening, but almost always fascinating. They are an expression of the Other, of the unknown that slumbers in each and every one of us.
The series Fabulous Creatures gives them back a natural place in our everyday life. Among us. As one of us.
