In my painting, nature is a metaphor for states of mind and thought, and it concerns our symbiotic relationship with the environment. I seek an expression that isn't merely a denunciation, but rather an image of what we risk losing if we don't change our attitude.
Following the theme of the environment and marine life, part of my research involves investigating the Venetian lagoon ecosystem. Different overlapping layers of light reflections on the water's surface are stitched together with reflections from the surrounding environment.
The Venetian palaces are reflected in the fish, while the fish appear to fly among the buildings, emphasizing the movement of marine inhabitants in their ecosystem, influenced and modified by human activity. The characteristic green color of the Venetian canals is interrupted here and there by reflections of the sky and the warm reflections of the building facades, with the phantasmagorical apparition of a few fish amidst the dance of windows and bridges.
