Priority Pass / subtitles: LIGHT-MIDDLE CLASS. NATURALNESS – THE TRUE FACE OF MAN. I DON’T LIKE PEOPLE WITHOUT QUALITY.
Collage: paper, plastic, 110x80 cm; in the foreground original fragments of my drawings, in the background a drawing of my father (print) "Composition in a circle" (1982)
I used plastic cards for the collage, including a priority pass. Cards are the result of the system - consumerism. The comic style of my drawings brings elements of grotesque and optimism.
Do contemporary men push the luxury out of their comfort zone in the name of love and freedom – those two fundamental values?
In the age of the society with higher and higher self-esteem, in the age of turbo-fast pace of life but at the same time with the dynamic of the hazards brought by the pandemic, the following questions arise: where do the extremes lead to? Is anxiety teaching us anything? Is the content of normal, daily life the greatest value in the modern society?
Collage composed of printout of my father’s - Marian Siwek - work and my own original drawings. The collage is an attempted dialogue between the two generations of artists: the one of the father and the one of the daughter. I reache for father’s selected work from 1971 "Where are you, man"?, in order to re-communicate him with today’s audience and the newly defined reality. That is why I insert my own drawings into my father’s work, in response to the themes raised by Marian Siwek several decades ago – themes so valid today, as if taken out from our present life. The collages are like a mirror of our reality.
