In these, as in other works, the choice between representation and presence of the work comes to a third term, where even the figuratively interpretable elements in the composition are however posited as presences, valid for their being physical in space. These are works in which the characteristics of the Byzantine and Orthodox icons settle down, in fact, while representing the divine, they are also manifesting its direct presence. About this, the words of their most famous theorist - Pavel Florenskij - still remain particularly illuminating today: “There is nothing mysterious that does not become evident and vice versa all that is evident hides a mystery in itself”.
