The painting portrays Tetiana, whose melancholic and resigned gaze is captured in the portrait. She is wearing a white dress that stands out against the dark background, which features a plaster Venus sculpture. Her bare feet create a sense of simplicity and tranquility. She is sitting in a relaxed position, as if waiting for news that is taking a long time to arrive, ready to stand up at any moment. Her delicate hands are intertwined and her legs are crossed. Tetiana's portrait plays a double game, but it completely lacks affectation and is of absolute naturalness.
The elevated viewpoint in this painting is a deliberate compositional resource, evoking a feeling of resignation and submission in the face of a situation beyond one's control. Overall, the portrait captures a complex and nuanced emotional state with great subtlety and sensitivity.

Tetiana, a Ukrainian fine arts teacher, was forced to flee her home and leave behind everything she held dear - including her son and her pets - when war broke out in Ukraine. Arriving in Spain as a refugee, she faced the daunting task of starting over in a new country where she knew only one family: old friends from Ukraine who resided in Valencia. Despite the challenges, Tetiana is persevering, building a new life for herself in a foreign land.
For Tetiana, "Peace" represents far more than just an end to conflict in her home country. It symbolizes her deepest desire for a world in which all people can live in safety and security, free from the fear and trauma of war.
