Production series I and II
At a time when self-determination should be a given, there is a worldwide regression, e.g., in the form of abortion bans, etc.
The Italian title means: we don't want to be puppets.
The title is a reference to the fact that women are often treated as if they were puppets, and that they are not allowed to make their own decisions.
Based on this starting point, I painted fragments of mannequins on old
Japanese newspapers, old Swiss newspapers, etc. In other words, newspapers from an environment or
a time when the rights of women in particular to a self-determined life were only given low priority
or still are.
I glued the images onto cardboard and sewed the different parts together to form a complete picture.
Since I often use recycled materials for my art objects, cardboard was a convenient choice.
At the same time, cardboard as a material reflects all the online orders placed worldwide every day and the question behind them: which stores will still have a future and where will this lead us as a society?
The cardboard is also a reference to the fact that I am currently working on a project about the history of cardboard boxes.
