For some years I’m working on a project about Bridges,
inspired to the city of Venice partly for its urban layout, partly for its
constitution as a metaphorical bridge between East and West, that
"started" me.
During the Covid-19 pandemic I continued to carry on
my maps of city bridges, whith new cities that I felt as the new pieces of the
project, after Venice and Amsterdam, opposing to "social distancing",
which is actually more physical state.
Cross-Minds that go beyond the boundaries of social
distancing and bring us back to an earthly geographical connection and dimension.
A symbol of cohesion and union at the same time, and
rebirth.
During the pandemia born a Map of Rome’s Bridges and a
Map of the Bridges of St. Petersburg, in Cyrillic thus use constructively the
suspended time in which I was living, to trace the eight hundred Bridges of
this immense city. Here I had the opportunity to live for a short time in 2000,
with a cultural exchange. This meditative work, Bridge after Bridge, has kept
me connected to the reality of the Global World in which now we live together,
to understand and underline that all our actions have consequences throughout
the Earth and even beyond our Planet.
The maps that I make are the tool to explore the human
subtle connections, that urban fabrics carry inscribed in the pages of stone,
concrete and iron, which make up the bridges that cross them.
