Theophane Catelli, visual artist.
I was born on November 7th, 2000 in Toulon, from an landscape artist father and an artist mother, making this career the natural choice for me. Right from childhood, drawing was an obvious means of expression for me, then, after high school I started using other mediums. During my high school education I chose to study for a baccalaureate specializing in Art, which has given me a varied and rich artistic background and history.
In 2017 I was welcomed as a permanent resident at the Loft Pédagogique in Fréjus (an educational organisation with a focus on education through art), alongside other artists such as the contemporary dance company "La Compagnie Des Poètes - Camille Lopez". As part of this residency I participate in a program run by the Loft that raises awareness of art. I give workshops, I work in schools and I prepare groups of young people to go to high schools specializing in Art. Also in 2017 I met Emma Picq, an artist from Saint-Raphael who taught and helped me a lot. This was the year of my first exhibition as an artist which took place at the Lycée Saint Exupéry.
In 2018 I obtained my baccalaureate in Art, and started a MANAA class (preparatory class for higher art schools). In parallel, I started a preparatory course for the Paris and Nice Fine Arts Competition with Emma Picq. During this year I met several artists who showed me new techniques and taught me to deepen my reflection and my work. This year three of my pieces were exhibited, one at the Saint Raphaël Cultural Centre and two in the Emma Picq gallery.
In 2019 I started training in Art Therapy to link my artistic and educational experience, notably gained at the Loft Pédagogique.
2019 is also the year in which I had the pleasure and honour of leading a project at the Forum Theatre in Frejus. This project, for which I was contacted following a request for proposals, consists of designing a corpus of plastic artworks to highlight the theatre's programming for the 10-year anniversary season. I also had the pleasure of being welcomed as part of an expo-residency by the town of Saint-Raphael in the Arts district. The town has provided me with a 70 m2 space with a workshop on the 1st floor and an exhibition space on the ground floor.
In 2020 I will have the privilege of doing a 2-month internship as an assistant to the artist Olivier Masmonteil. I will also start the Ecole des Beaux Arts (Fine Arts School) and continue my artistic career.
