This painting depicts the vandalized statue of Jefferson Davis, the former president of the US Confederacy, on the campus of Texas A & M University, by protesters. The statue was eventually removed. My painting marks this moment and the debate that surrounds it. The figure of Jefferson Davis is physically sanded out of the painting leaving a ghostly impression on the image.
