Inner Heel

‘You can call it Inner Heel dad.' That's the skate trick my son is demonstrating in this painting. Placing my subjects in abstraction is an act in which I tend to invite my viewers to reflect on what's essential in life. To undo the subject of his context gives us the opportunity to reflect on what really matters. As a father this is something I value highly towards my children. In the polarizing climate this world bades in, I think Art has to invite people to take a breath and reflect on the essence. 

The technique of different layers of acryl pouring, resin and pigments give dept to the image. The glossy result functions as a mirror, inviting you to look at yourself in the artwork.
